Okay, that is a pretty Muddy Boy! We had a great time with your Mom and Dad over Easter. It is so nice to see how RELAXED your Mom is since she retired! She is so laidback, it is awesome. We sure had a good time visiting with you- I'm trying to get our pictures (the few) of when you were here printed off to send(I'm so bad at this). Hugs!
We knew that time was tight between the end of our conference in the Northern end of Thailand and our flight out of the country from the Southern end. We figured that since we would be flying there would be no problem getting home in a day and giving ourselves 2 full days before our flight to the U.S. We were scheduled to fly back to Southern Thailand on December 1st and get on our flight to the U.S. on December 4th. We flew to Chiang Mai with no inkling that the beautiful new airport we transferred at in Bangkok would be seiged by protesters just a few days later. At our conference we realized that we were not going to be flying back. The alternatives were train, bus, rent a car or rent a mini-van with a driver. Being economical we chose the train or bus, and in the end, due to scheduling, it had to be the bus. It would be a grueling 20+ hour trip home, but we weren't overly concerned because Thailand has beautiful VIP buses that are really nice to ride in. Unfortunately ther...
He got mad at his sister for locking him out of the room and kicked the door. Unfortunately the door was made out of glass panels and he kicked his foot through, slicing the bottom of it. At first there was just the sound of breaking glass, then nothing, then crying that started softly and built up to a frantic sobbing. Gee and I ran outside to investigate and Kennedy was carrying him down our outside stairs from the 2nd story, small blood puddles on the floor from the glass door to the stair landing. We had given the truck to the Manteca Team to drive themselves to the island so Kennedy could work on his Sunday sermon, so we had no transportation. Kennedy ran over to the house Dean is renting for Marcus and they graciously allowed us to use their vehicle. I didn't go with them to the hospital, I knew it wasn't going to be fun. Kennedy told me later how much he screamed and cried when they gave him a painkilling shot and cleaned the wound. He has 3 little black stiches and he h...
I got obsessed with bread. Not just any kind of bread, but artisan bread. Natural yeast, sourdough, whole wheat 7-grain boules, to be exact. I am a bread lover, to be sure, but somehow my love for bread turned into a quest for a difficult but supremely delicious bread, in short, my bread obsession to make the perfect loaf. So what you see below is the product I finally managed to make after several weeks of trying to get a good fungal/bacterial culture going, I mean, bakers yeast/lactobacillus, also known as sourdough starter. That was a challenge in itself, considering that Thailand is bacterial heaven and the temperatures are not ideal for the growth of yeast cells. I am too ashamed to tell you how many hours I have spent on the superb website "The Fresh Loaf" which you can get to yourself if you click on my title above. I learned from chemists, who also like to make bread, more than I ever imagined I could or wanted to know about growing microbes. Certain special m...
