Wednesday Night Party

Amnaat made a big batch of grilled fish and crabs, bought some battered & fried bananas, & made Pak Khanaa', a stir-fried vegetable dish that's really tasty. We brought chicken & steamed rice, Dean, Marcus, Kellie, Brian & Puum brought drinks & ice, & something else, Lisa & Matt & their friends brought a yummy Thai Yam salad. There was fruit & we all had plenty to eat. There were other Thais there, but I think they were mainly neighbors. There were over 20 of us. I was disappointed more Thai people from the church didn't show up. We have made it our goal to start visiting people in this neighborhood, once we totally recover from this illness. We will start with those who became believers last year.
Our party ended up being at Amnaat's house, a central Thai man that has spent a lot of time with the foreign (caucasion) folks who helped rebuild all the 51 houses of this village area. Last time he was over at our house he told us he wanted to have a dinner at his place, so this worked out well. He lost his wife in the tsunami, and the van he used to make his livelihood He lives with his wife's mother, raising his 2 boys now. His one boy, Phum, is a month younger than Jasper, so we want them to become friends. After seeing the incredible help Christians gave after the tsunami, particularly Dean with the Mercy Foundation in his own neighborhood, he wants to understand Christianity more. He has participated in a lot of events with Dean and his volunteers. He comes to church sometimes. I think this Sunday he is coming. Kennedy will do the preaching, Dean is here for 2 weeks so he'll be there, too.
We all had fun tonight.
I might be going to the other church in Nam Chem to do Sunday School with the Thai kids there, unless Luy is ready to take it over. I am going through the Bible chronologically with them. Gee, the girl that works for us, goes through it with me through the week to help me get ready to teach the kids and also because she wants to understand Christianity, too.
